Abstract
|
|
|
BAL was administered to normal adult and mercury bichloride intoxicated rabbits in order to study its influence on 203Hg neohydrin renal scanning.
The study was performed as follows:
I . Preliminary study
In preliminary experiment 203Hg neohydrin renal scanning was made in A. The group normal
B. The group given 20% benzyl-benzoate in peanut oil
C. The group intoxicated with mercury bichloride
II. The experiment
In mercury bichloride intoxicated group, 3mg/kg of BAL was administered and 203Hg neohydrin renal scanning was started in 0, 0. 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 12 and 24 hours. The results were as follows;
1. In normal rabbits, 203Hg excretion was accelerated markedly for about 5 hours after the injection of BAL. 2. The excretion of 203Hg was accelerated moderately in the rabbits intoxicated with mercury bichloride
for I to 6 hours, and poorly in the animals intoxicated for 48 to 72 hours. However, the excretion was not accelerated in the ones for 12 to 24 hours.
